The Sierra Club Hosts brisk morning walks in Davis year round on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The group meets at 7a.m. at Peet's Coffee & Tea at the Marketplace (on Covell)

All are welcome, but rain cancels the outing!

The walking distance is 4.5 miles in 90 minutes, and the group returns to Peet's at 8:30am.

The walk takes in greenbelt scenery, wildlife ponds, fields, ditches, dirt paths, gardens, Village Homes, the U.C. Davis Arboretum.

Follow the Path of Garbage, and Art From Recycled Materials

What happens to a plastic bottle thrown on the ground or in the trash?

A visit to the Yolo County Landfill will help you see the big picture of garbage — where it goes, how it’s being recycled and the unbelievable stories of waste. Afterwards, participate in a simple art activity using recycled materials.

All About Bees

9 a.m. Saturday, June 29: Bees!

Some people are afraid of them and swat at them; others have no idea what bees do. On this outing, a UC Davis beekeeper sheds more light on the wonderful world of bees: how they gather and store food and how human beings benefit from the work of the bees. Also, visit UC Davis’ Bee Haven.

For families and kids 5 and older, at UC Davis

The suggested donation for each outing is $7 per person. Outings are free to Tuleyome members. One $35 membership covers the whole family.

June 30: Lake Group hike on Mt. Konocti from Gate We will hike from the gate on Konocti Rd. Bring binoculars, lunch and water. We will enjoy the spectacular views over Big Valley and Clear Lake.
