The Sierra Club Hosts brisk morning walks in Davis year round on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The group meets at 7a.m. at Peet's Coffee & Tea at the Marketplace (on Covell)

All are welcome, but rain cancels the outing!

The walking distance is 4.5 miles in 90 minutes, and the group returns to Peet's at 8:30am.

The walk takes in greenbelt scenery, wildlife ponds, fields, ditches, dirt paths, gardens, Village Homes, the U.C. Davis Arboretum.

May 24:  Pope Creek Moonlight Paddle.   Full Moon Friday!  This is a Bureau of Reclamation paddle, and we're going along!   Explore the quiet Pope Creek arm of the lake, which is closed to motorized boats during holiday weekends. The full moon will light the way as we learn about animals’ adaptations to navigation in the dark.  Note: Bring flashlights and extra warm layers. Boats must be carried down a short, somewhat steep path to the shoreline.

May 25: Lake Group Snow Mountain Summit Hike. We will drive to Summit Springs and then follow a trail to the east summit of Snow Mountain. Great views of Mt. Lassen, Mt. St. Helena and possibly Mt. Shasta and Mt. Diablo. Bring lunch, water and sturdy shoes. Class: H-10-C Carpools: Meet 8 am. Upper Lake Ranger station on Elk Mountain Rd. By reservation only. Hike (2A), China Wall, Castle Rock (Seniors Section)

This lovely hike in Diablo Foothills Regional Park takes us up Pine Creek Canyon past Castle Rock, up to the ridge top and along the ridge past mysterious China Wall, and then back down to the trailhead.  The loop is about 7 miles with about 800’ elevation gain.  Bring lunch, water, hat (the ridge top lacks shade), and essentials.  Meet at 8:30am at the Davis Park and Ride behind Ikedas Fruit Stand off I-80 at Mace Blvd. in Davis.   No dogs.  Rain cancels.  Leader: Jim Cramer, 530-756-3973 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
