Using Indigenous knowledge to inform environmental management with Dr. Hekia Bodwitch

The June 2024 Nature and You Lecture will be given by Tuleyome’s Policy Director, Dr. Hekia Bodwitch. This talk will explore research on engaging Indigenous knowledge in environmental management. We will work through the concepts of knowledge co-production and two-eyed seeing, and we will consider how these concepts can inform co-stewardship in the North Inner Coastal range.

Dr. Bodwitch received her BS from Cornell University and her PhD from the Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management from UC Berkeley. Trained as a political ecologist, she has worked to promote policies that advance environmental justice. Her projects have involved collaborations with Indigenous groups in New Zealand and Canada, to support Indigenous co-governance of natural resources.
