The Eel River is a major river in the Northern Coast Range, with a watershed that covers parts of five counties, including the northern third of the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument. The Eel is at a major crossroads due to the planned surrender by PG&E of the Potter Valley Project, which includes the proposed removal of the Scott and Cape Horn Dams.

Our speaker for this month is Ryan Henson, Senior Policy Director for CalWild and member of Tuleyome’s Advisory Council. Ryan has spent his career advocating for the protection of California’s public lands at the state and federal levels. The Eel River has a special place in Ryan’s heart, having grown up near the Eel in and around the Mendocino National Forest. In his talk, he will discuss the history of the Eel River and then delve into the proposed dam removals and the future of the Eel River.

Join us via Zoom at 7pm on June 26th to hear Ryan’s talk – please register for the event to receive the Zoom link. I will send out the link on the afternoon of June 26th. This is a free event, however a donation of $10 or more is suggested to help support Tuleyome’s programs. If you have any questions, please reach out to Geoff Benn at gbenn@tuleyome.org.
