Did you know that there are over 300 species of bees that are native to Yolo County? These native bee species are of critical importance to our native plants, but face a number of threats ranging from habitat loss to invasive species.

Our speaker for this month is Professor Brian Gillespie, who teaches biology at Woodland Community College and studies native bees at Woodland Regional Park Preserve. Professor Gillespie will give an overview of our native bees, discuss their importance, and will share some recent findings from the research he has been doing with his students at the Preserve.

Join us via Zoom at 7pm on September 25th to hear Professor Gillespie’s talk – please register for the event to receive the Zoom link. I will send out the link on the afternoon of September 25th. This is a free event, however a donation of $10 or more is suggested to help support Tuleyome’s programs. If you have any questions, please reach out to Geoff Benn at gbenn@tuleyome.org.
