Getting Kids Outside – Youth Boot Bank

It’s always exciting to hear where the boots from our Youth Boot Bank program have ended up! Local mom Chelsea sent us this photo of her kids on the trail with the message:
“Thanks Tuleyome! In the last 6 months your boots have taken my kids through Sedona, the Grand Canyon, Zion, Rocky Mountain, Grand Tetons, Jackson, and Yellowstone. We are very thankful for the boot loan.”

Tuleyome held two Youth Boot Bank events in July – our monthly office hours on July 1st and our monthly tabling at the Davis Farmers Market on July 18th. At each event, we made loans of hiking boots to kids in the community, making sure they’re ready for summer adventures on the trails.

We make 6-month loans of hiking boots to kids up to age 18 – after 6 months, parents have the option to either renew the loan or come in to trade up for a larger size if needed. We also make short-term loans of camping gear to participants in Tuleyome trips or to partner organizations who are hosting trips (reach out to Geoff at gbenn@tulyeome.org if you’re interested).
Our next Youth Boot Bank events will be our monthly tabling at the Davis Farmers Market on 8/15 and our monthly office hours on 9/2. More information about the program is available on our website. If you have any questions or if you’d like to share photos of your Youth Boot Bank boots in action, please contact Education Associate Geoff Benn at gbenn@tuleyome.org.
